How did people live 100 years ago and 50 years ago?

Hong Kong was just a fishing village 100 years ago. There were not many people and not many buildings. Most people in Hong Kong lived in small village houses or even on fishing boats. Some people lived in towns.
There was only a few shops and restaurants.

50 years ago more people started to move to Hong Kong. Hong Kong became a city and people moved into towns. There was more shops and restaurants.
Some people still lived in shanty towns. Shanty towns are villages made of scrap metal and rubbish. They were for poor people.

Most people lived in houses and buildings were not very tall.
The airport was in Kowloon and you could see inside peoples houses when you were landing.
